Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I (PCT) for the MedSurg unit in Angleton. The role provides basic technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet individual patient needs across assigned areas.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a nurse assistant, medical assistant, EMT, or related program, or enrollment in nursing school with clinical coursework. A BLS certification is commonly required for entry.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of one of the listed nursing/medical programs or enrollment in nursing school.
• Experience or certification in patient care roles is acceptable as equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet patient needs.
• Support patients in MedSurg Angleton during the assigned shift, part-time (24 hours/week).

To provide basic technical assistance and supportive patient care to meet the needs of individual patients throughout assigned areas.

Education & Experience

High school or equivalent AND completion of one of the following technical programs:

• Completion of a recognized Nurse Assistant program OR
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR
• Completion of Medical Corpsman program OR
• Completion of EMT program OR
• Completion of a UTMB Hospital Aide Training Program OR
• Two (2) years of experience in a direct patient care environment OR
• Certified MA, PCT, or CNA at time of hire OR
• Is enrolled in a recognized School of Nursing and has completed the first semester of education which contains clinical concepts and health assessment or the equivalent.
