Good Samaritan University Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, is seeking a Nursing Technician to assist in patient care under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner. Requires a NA program or RN program experience and current BLS. Pays USD 27.46 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package offered by Catholic Health.

The role emphasizes hand hygiene, patient safety, and efficient patient flow in a busy hospital setting on Long Island.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of NA program, BOCES, Military Hospital Corps School or equivalent, or completion of medical/surgical experience within an RN program; Current BLS.

Responsabilités

• Practices regular hand hygiene and complies with standard and transmission based precautions as applicable.
• Responds appropriately to the special needs of each group served specific to age, language, gender, culture, religion/spirituality, economic background, education or literacy, developmental or cognitive disabilities, physical and developmental disabilities.
• Under the direction of a Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical nurse, assists with patient visits to PST re: reception, equipment preparation, vital signs, obtaining actual weights, orientation to surroundings and implementation of safety measures
• Performs direct care with attention to personal hygiene, safety, comfort and skin care while anticipating the needs of the patient and family.
• Performs oxygen equipment preparation, phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG
• Assists and/or transports patients in a timely and safe manner.
• Collects and transports specimens maintaining standards mandated by regulatory agencies.
• Facilitates patient flow through the department.
