Job summary

Luminis Health, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant in Lanham, MD to provide high-quality direct patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team. You will support basic nursing tasks, monitor patient comfort, and assist with admissions, discharges, and routine procedures.

The role requires a CNA certification and an American Heart Association BLS; you will work under the supervision of registered nurses in a team-based environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to patients with emphasis on personal hygiene and comfort.
• Initiate and maintain safety measures and comfort care.
• Support patients, families and visitors in a courteous, ethical manner.
• Remain knowledgeable in oxygen administration and point-of-care testing.
• Assist with admissions: greet, weigh, vitals, and orient to room/equipment.
• Assist with discharge: dressing, belongings, transport, and room turnover.
• Perform vein puncture, IV therapy, dressing changes, and specimen collection.
• Record vital signs, intake/output, and data per policy; follow approved procedures.
• Assist patients with mobilization and positioning; report changes to nurse.

Understands self motivation in performing basic nursing care. Participates in the team nursing concept, completing tasks as delegated by the assigned nurse.

• Initiates and maintains all types of safety measures and comfort care to patients.
• Provides support to patients, families and visitors in polite and ethically appropriate manner.
• Remains knowledgeable in oxygen administration, monitor lead application and point of care testing.
• Assists with admission of patients by greeting and performing initial weight measurement, vital signs, disrobing as necessary and orientation of patient to room and equipment.
• Prioritizes discharge of patients by assisting with dressing, gathering belongings and transport if necessary to lobby; removes equipment and supplies from room for environmental staff cleaning.
• Performs vein puncture and IV therapy, performs routine dressing changes and skin care, obtains blood, wound and throat cultures, inserts foley catheters and documents all procedures and treatments according to departmental policy and procedures.
• Participates in patient care, vital signs, intake and output and other data collection and records according to policy and procedure.; obtains specimens as requested using approved procedure.
• Assists patients with mobilization and/or positioning as ordered by physician or unit protocol.
• Recognizes and reports pain, patient complaint or obvious change in patient condition to assigned nurse.
