Job summary

Temple Health – Temple University Health System seeks a patient care assistant to support registered nurses in delivering care. You will perform direct and indirect patient care under guidance, including vital signs, ECGs, venipuncture, IV placement, and glucose testing.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and training in nurses aide or medical assisting, EMT, or nursing clinical rotation. Basic Life Support is typically required.

Qualifications

Job description

Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation/completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs. Measures vital signs, performs ECGs, venipuncture, IV placement, capillary blood glucose testing, and Unit Secretary, Patient Transport, and Environment of Care duties.

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Other Successful completion of Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, EMT training program or Nursing student with satisfactory completion of Nursing 101 clinical or equivalent clinical rotation Required

Experience

• 1 year experience in a related patient care role Preferred

Licenses

• Basic Life Support Required
