Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a patient-focused role providing a variety of services and interacting with patients and the care team. Responsibilities include greeting patients, performing basic medical tests, handling calls, and maintaining supplies.

The position requires a High School diploma, CPR certification or obtaining it within 30 days, and about one year of experience in a medical setting.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
One year of experience in a medical setting preferred.
Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

To provide a variety of specialized services that require interaction with patients, visitors and other members of the patient care team.
To greet and escort patients from waiting area to treatment rooms and performs required medical testing (i.e. vital signs, obtain urine specimens, height/weight, etc.) as directed by either physician, RN/LPN or pre-designated protocol.
May prepare and collect charge tickets.
To answer and document patient phone calls regarding medical questions, test results and medication while in constant contact with attending physician, RN/LPN.
To perform a variety of duties requiring use of independent judgment and decision making skills within well established parameters.
To ennsure patient rooms and instruments are clean and stocked with required supplies.
To order and maintain clinic supplies.
To perform pre-load responsibilities based on clinic need.
