Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support timely patient throughput by coordinating the movement of discharged patients into and through the Discharge Lounge. You will collaborate with inpatient units, transport services, pharmacy and other departments to reduce discharge delays and optimize hospital capacity.

Minimum Training And Education

Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Patient Care Technician II: High School Diploma/Equivalent and ONE of the following requirements must be met.

• Associate or Bachelor's degree
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
• At least 1 year of PCT I (.6 FTE +) experience at MUSC
• Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
• Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
• Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
