Job summary

Avera is seeking a Regular employee to provide routine patient care at Avera St Benedict Hospital. Responsibilities include ambulating patients, assisting with hygiene, meals, and mobility, and supporting nursing staff to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires effective communication and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The position emphasizes patient safety, timely response to call lights, and proper documentation in the computer system.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations.
• High school diploma or GED required; CNA preferred or required per policy.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, direct patient care including ambulation, bathing and feeding.
• Record diet information in the computer system and assist with meal trays.
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and maintain patient rights and belongings.
• Assist with mobility, positioning and basic clinical tasks as directed by nurse/physician.
• Coordinate outpatient appointments and communicate with departments as needed.
• Maintain clean, orderly patient rooms and handle clerical duties related to admissions and transfers.
