Intermountain Health Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, UT is seeking a Part-time Patient Care Technician to assist the patient care team with basic needs and comfort measures, and to support the Health Unit Coordinator role when needed.

You will report patient data to the RN, monitor patients, assist with telemetry on unit, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure safe, compassionate care. CNA and BLS required; strong computer literacy and communication skills are essential.

Formación

  • CNA certification in Utah or completion of CNA program within the last year.
  • BLS for healthcare providers.
  • Basic computer literacy and able to document patient information.

Responsabilidades

  • Assist with basic patient care: toileting, bathing, linen changes, hydration and comfort.
  • Report changes in patient condition promptly to the RN.
  • Document and relay patient care findings in the medical record.
  • Monitor patients and collaborate with the care team, including telemetry as required.
  • May perform Health Unit Coordinator duties as needed and assist with unit operations.

Job Description:The Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator.Essential FunctionsPrioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs, while providing excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests.Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner. Reports changes in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance as needed.May perform telemetry duties as required based on the unit, and function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patients, addressing patient care needs, and collaborating with other members of the patient care team as required.Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required when working on a clinical unit.Collaborate and consult with the RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.May assume the responsibilities of a health unit coordinator, including answering phones, transcribing physician orders, managing unit records, organizing, stocking, and maintaining unit supplies.Implements plan of care as delegated.Performs assigned duties within Scope of Practice. Official transcript is required.CNA certification must be obtained within 120 days of hire.Preferred QualificationsPrior CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.Current enrollment in nursing school program.Physical RequirementsOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.Location:Intermountain Health Utah Valley HospitalWork City:ProvoWork State:UtahScheduled Weekly Hours:24The hourly range for this position is listed below.
