Job Summary

Job Duties
  • Provide advanced patient care under the direction of a licensed RN, including advanced dressing care, suctioning, removal of Foley catheters, and peripheral IV.
  • Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to CLSI guidelines.
  • Perform daily hands‑on aspects of the storage, preparation, and delivery of breast milk, infant, and pediatric formulas.
  • Document appropriately to create a complete and accurate medical record.
  • Observe and document the physical needs of the patient according to established standards.
  • Report any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the integrity of specimens per policy and procedure, following physician orders.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and changing linens.
  • Provide one‑to‑one patient safety watch as assigned.
  • Process specimens and transport to the laboratory in a timely manner.
  • Perform point‑of‑care patient testing and maintain instrument quality control.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and corrective measures for equipment and supplies.
  • Serve as preceptor and mentor for new staff and students.
  • Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths according to standards.
  • Transcribe and process orders and releases to appropriate departments.
  • Coordinate transportation of patients to multiple tests.
  • Communicate with food services and coordinate patient diets.
  • Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment and maintain scheduling.
  • Assist with transport of non‑controlled medications and blood products to/from Pharmacy, Blood Bank, and unit.
  • Conduct discharge follow‑up calls and coordinate virtual discharge appointment team.
  • Participate in 5‑minute drills and quality rounds for regulatory readiness.

Position Details

Full‑time position – 36 hours per week. Hours: 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (3–12 hour shifts/week). Availability: every other weekend and a holiday rotation. Experience preferred but willing to educate and train. Attend a 2‑week daytime orientation program.

Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – (Required).
  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program – (Preferred).
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred).
Certification(s) and License(s)
