Job summary

Endeavor Health Careers seeks a Patient Care Technician for the Acute Rehab Unit in Arlington Heights, IL. The role operates full-time with 36 hours/week and requires attending orientation during the first week.

Shifts are 7:00am–7:30pm (3–12 hour shifts) with every other weekend and holidays. Responsibilities include patient care, mobility, vital signs, specimen collection, and EMR documentation.

Qualifications

  • Completion of CNA course and CNA certification exam.
  • EMT or paramedics training course or current enrollment in a nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care needs under RN/LPN supervision.
  • Assist with exercise and ambulation, using proper body mechanics.
  • Take and report vital signs and accu-check results to the nurse.
  • Perform procedures such as EKGs and basic care tasks as directed.
  • Collect specimens and document care in EMR.
  • Support admissions, discharges, and patient transport as needed.

Job description

Hourly Pay Range: $18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

Position: Patient Care Technician - Acute Rehab Unit - Days

Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL

Full Time | 36 hours/week

Must be able to attend a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Orientation from about 8:00am - 4:30pm, during the first week of employment.

Hours: 7:00am - 7:30pm (3 - 12 hour shifts), every other weekend and holidays required.

What you will do
  • Assists patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc. under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
  • Assists with exercising and ambulating patient; utilizes correct body mechanics while assisting with patient mobility; maintains physical safety and comfort of patient under supervision of a RN/LPN.
  • Obtains patient vital signs, input and output checks, and accu-checks, and reports abnormalities to the nurse.
  • As directed by RN/LPN performs procedures such as EKG’s, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, application of restraints, backrubs, etc.
  • Collects specimens such as urine, feces, sputum, and delivers as necessary.
  • Documents basic patient care into electronic medical record.
  • Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety as directed.
  • Adequately answers unit phones and can effectively direct phone calls to the appropriate parties.
  • May perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed.
What you will need
  • Education: The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of high school, required Certification/License: Completion of an accredited CNA course and the successful completion of the CNA certification exam, EMT or paramedics training course, or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with the completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation required Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association, required.
