Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join the ART 3West Acute Cardiology team. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach and help achieve desired outcomes.

The role requires lifting and standing for long periods, with a 36-hour work week across 3 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS or healthcare facility experience.
  • Active enrollment in nursing school with Nursing Fundamentals completed or active enrollment in related field.
  • CNA or CMA certification preferred.

  • Under RN supervision, perform multi-skilled activities to support patient care.
  • Support decentralized patient-centered care and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Adhere to 3 12-hour rotating shifts per week, including weekends and holidays.

Minimum Training and Education
  • Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Patient Care Technician II: High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
  • Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
  • Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
  • Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
