Job summary

Sentara Health in Woodbridge, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide unlicensed patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with admissions, discharges, and daily nursing tasks while ensuring patient safety.

The role requires a HS Diploma and completion of an approved CNA/NCMA/NCPCT program or equivalent credentials, with preferred Navy medical training or active clinical study. Competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma is required.
• Completion of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program or equivalent CNA/NCMA/NCPCT credentials.
• Nursing-focused certifications such as CNA, NCMA, NCPCT are preferred.
• US Navy Hospital Corps School or equivalent EMR/EMS/EMT/Paramedic training may be considered.
• Current student in a clinical program with at least one completed semester (RN/LPN/RT/PT).
• Recent work as a PCT or Nursing Assistant within the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under direct supervision of a professional nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes.
• Observe and report changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions.
• Follow patient safety practices as directed by nursing staff.

Overview

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Education

Must have a HS Diploma and one of the following:

• Sentara Care Partner Certification Program


• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)


• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)


• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic


• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT)


• Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
