Job summary

Reno Orthopedic Center (ROC) is hiring a Patient Care Technician to support patients and families throughout the surgical journey at our main ROC location. You will provide compassionate care, help with comfort, restock supplies, and assist the nursing team during perioperative periods.

A High School Diploma/GED is required; previous customer service experience is helpful, and experience in patient care is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience is desirable.
  • Experience providing patient care is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a compassionate point of contact for patients and families during the perioperative period.
  • Assist with patient comfort, positioning, and basic needs.
  • Restock supplies and ensure equipment is ready for use by the nursing team.
  • Observe patient conditions and report changes to RN or supervisor.
  • Transfer patients between beds and stretchers as needed.
  • Follow emergency procedures, including CPR if required.
  • Escort patients to discharge and provide a smooth transition of care.

What would you do in this role?

You will play a vital role in supporting patients and their families throughout the surgical experience. You’ll serve as a compassionate point of contact, helping to alleviate stress and provide updates during the perioperative period. By tracking each patient's surgical journey, you’ll ensure that families are informed and reassured every step of the way. You’ll closely observe patient conditions, promptly communicating any changes or concerns to the assigned nurse or supervisor to maintain high standards of care. You’ll help maintain a smooth and efficient care environment by restocking supplies and ensuring equipment is ready and available. This is a hands-on, patient-centered role that truly makes a difference.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a personal contact, provide support and help to alleviate stress for families of surgical patients during the perioperative period;
  • Track the patient’s surgical journey and alert patient’s family of their status as applicable;
  • Observe patient’s condition and immediately communicate changes or concerns to the assigned RN or a supervisor;
  • Assist in transferring patients from bed to stretcher and vice versa as needed;
  • Follow emergency procedures including use of CPR if necessary;
  • Escort patients out of the building following discharge;
  • Stock department equipment and supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
Certifications/Education
  • High School Diploma/GED;
Experience:
  • Performing customer service duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing patient care.
