Job summary

Virtua Health in Marlton, NJ is seeking a part-time patient care technician to assist with activities of daily living under RN/LPN supervision. You will support healthcare teams, monitor patients, and help ensure compassionate, high-quality care near home.

The role requires basic patient care skills, strong communication, and a high school diploma or GED. BLS is required; phlebotomy training may be needed for ED positions. This on-site position offers a night shift with 24 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have completed a PCT course, a fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, CNA, or have worked an equivalent of 1 year of direct patient care.
• BLS certification. Phlebotomy training/education is required for Emergency Department positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting/hygiene and mobility.
• Maintains standard precautions; conducts vital signs and other tasks per RN/LPN instruction; documents appropriately.
• Communicates changes in patient status, supports care team, participates in patient satisfaction initiatives and orientation of new hires.

Job Information: Summary: Under the direction of a Registered Nurse/and or LPN, assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

Position Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities: Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice. Performs technical duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and foley catheter care specific to population served and documents appropriately. May perform phlebotomy and EKG’s, if certified. Identifies and communicates changes in patient’s status to RN/LPN and responds appropriately. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice. Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues. Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals. Participates in the performance improvement activities. Assists in orientation of new hires.

Position Qualifications

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required: Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards. Must have strong communication skills.

Required Education

Required Education: High School Diploma or Grade Equivalent Diploma (GED) required. Must have successfully completed a PCT course, a fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or have worked an equivalent of 1 year of direct patient care.

Training/Certifications/Licensure

Training/Certifications/Licensure: BLS certification. Phlebotomy training/education is required for the Emergency Department positions. Enhances skills through ongoing education and training. Maintains regulatory and departmental level competencies.

Hourly Rate

Hourly Rate: $19.54 - $29.20 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant’s experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
