Qualifications

  • BLS certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist flow of patients from waiting area to exam rooms across departments.
  • Transport patients using wheelchairs or walkers and assist with personal needs.
  • Recognize, report, and respond to emergencies.
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, mobility.
  • Collect and label specimens for laboratory testing under supervision.
  • Assist with EKGs as directed by staff.
  • Obtain and document vital signs.
  • Restock exam rooms and perform basic housekeeping duties.
  • Chart in CPSI and record patient supply usage on billing sheets.
  • Provide support across departments as needed.

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports nursing staff by delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients across Inpatient, PACU, and Float Pool units. Responsibilities include assisting with patient mobility, vital signs, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms across various departments.
  • Transport patients using wheelchairs or walkers as needed and assist with personal medical needs.
  • Recognize, report, and respond appropriately to actual or potential emergency situations.
  • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, repositioning, and mobility.
  • Collect and label specimen, such as blood and urine, for laboratory testing under proper supervision.
  • Assist with electrocardiograms (EKGs) as directed by clinical staff.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs.
  • Restock exam rooms, fold laundry, perform basic housekeeping tasks, and complete daily checks of sharps containers, gloves, tissues, and linen disposal.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Offer emotional support and clear communication to patients and families to promote comfort and trust.
  • Chart in CPSI and record patient supply usage on billing sheets.
  • Provide support across different departments as needed.
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Training:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary training in healthcare preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a hospital or clinical support role.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Certification as a Nurse Aide (CNA) with an active listing on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry - or - certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA), is required.
  • BLS required
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as employees may occasionally be required to operate a company vehicle. Reasonable accommodations may be provided as required by law.
