Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for Telemetry at Rockwall, TX. Full-time nights, 7P-7A, 36 hours weekly, rotating weekends and holidays.

The role requires a HS diploma or equivalent, and prefers 1 year PCT experience in acute care. Certifications such as BCLS and CPI are mandatory, with EMT or nursing student options also acceptable.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or equivalent required.
• One year PCT experience in acute care preferred.
• PCT Training Program or THR approved program required or upon hire.
• EMT or nursing student with fundamentals acceptable.
• Additional certification may be required upon hire.
• BCLS and CPI training required before independent patient care.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced unit with patient safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care according to plan of care.
• Collect patient data and report findings to the nurse.
• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Adhere to patient daily living activities and care plans.
• Perform technical procedures safely and accurately.
• Document care and enter orders as needed.
• Collaborate with nurses to tailor care to patient needs.
• Maintain patient environment and safety; anticipate needs.

Work location: Texas Health Rockwall, 3150 Horizon Road, Rockwall, TX 75032

Work hours: Full-Time Nights, 7P-7A, 36 hours, 3 (12) hour shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays.

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
• One year of PCT experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
• PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required Or
• EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire Required Or
• Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program
• Other 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire Required
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 days Required
• Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
• Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

What You Will Do

Essential Functions CARE OF PATIENT/TECHNICAL SKILLS:

• Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
• Collects patient data, identifies and reports significant findings to nurse.
• Assists in admission/transfer/discharge.
• Provides and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences.
• Performs technical procedures safely and proficiently.
• Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
• Enters orders into computer or manual system if applicable.
• Documents accurately and appropriately.
• In collaboration/consultation with the nurse, adapts care to reflect patient population.
• In collaboration/consultation with nurse, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care.
• Keeps patient environment clean and maintains safe environment.
• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
