Job summary

Tenet Healthcare in Rock Hill, SC is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to support patient care under the supervision of the nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, recording I/Os, and providing age-appropriate care from infant to geriatric as assigned.

You will float to other nursing units as needed, coordinate with the health care team, and perform clerical duties such as greeting visitors and transcribing orders accurately.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of CNA course required.
• Experience: Previous work experience in a patient care role can meet education requirement.
• CNA must be certified within 6 months of employment.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
• CPI required within orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care to meet activities of daily living and assist with basic needs.
• Take and record vital signs and I/Os; report abnormalities to nurse.
• Assist licensed staff and physicians as directed; float to other units as requested.
• Handle clerical and public relations tasks for the unit; coordinate patient services and tests.

Up to $5,000 Sign-on Bonus Based on Eligibility

Under the direction of the Nurse, performs sub-professional duties including providing patient care to meet the needs of activities of daily living; operation and maintenance of equipment. Takes and records vital signs and I/Os. Assists licensed staff and physicians as directed within approved standards. Performs other related duties as directed. Assumes the responsibility for meeting the basic needs of all patients assigned. Provides care to a patient population ranging from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise indicated. Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals. Provides quality care according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned. Must be willing/able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed. Performs and coordinates the clerical and public relations functions for the unit, as well as coordinating patient services and tests provided by the other ancillary hospital departments; acts as unit receptionist receiving and directing visitors. Assumes the responsibility for correctly transcribing orders on all patients assigned. Works collaboratively with the health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospital goals. Provides quality work according to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s) assigned. Must be willing/able to float to other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed.

Accurately checks patient's blood sugar and documents results as ordered (all values are correctly reported to attending nurse)

Obtains vital signs appropriately based on patient's age and condition. Reports abnormal findings immediately to attending or charge nurse

Performs patient interventions completely and proficiently within scope of practice and demonstrates age specific competency for population of patients served.

Provides appropriate treatment in emergency situations as they arise (i.e. codes, patient falls).

Performs related duties as required.

Required:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of CNA course required
• Experience: Previous work experience in a patient care role can meet education requirement.
• Licensure/Certification: CNA - must be certified within 6 months of employment, and/or completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited Nursing Curriculum with the intention to complete a nursing degree required.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire.
• CPI required within orientation.
