Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System seeks a day shift, full-time Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT) in Tulsa, OK. The role involves assisting patients with daily activities, documenting vital signs, and supporting nursing staff in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED and can obtain BLS within 14 days of hire. Cross-training across services is preferred, with CNA/PCT or paramedic certification or nursing school enrollment favored.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross trained and cross competent).
• Preferred CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observe patients’ progress and relay reports to the RN or medical staff.
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measure intake and output and assist with range of motion and phlebotomy as needed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observes patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with range of motion, and draws blood.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice (cross trained and cross competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function).

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Minimum of two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
