Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System in Tulsa, OK is seeking a day-shift, full-time Medical-Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, transporting patients, passing meal trays, providing hygiene care, and answering inquiries within the scope of practice.
• Assists nursing staff by receiving patients at the desk, guiding them to appropriate rooms, giving initial instructions, and assisting with discharge transports.
• May act as unit receptionist, organize charts, prepare supplies, and keep nursing stations clean and stocked.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT

• Assists with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assisting in transporting patients, passing meal trays, delivering hygiene care, and answering inquiries within the scope of practice.
• Assists nursing staff by receiving patients at the desk, taking the patient to the appropriate room, giving initial instructions; assists in transporting discharged patients and answers inquiries within the scope of practice.
• May act as the unit’s receptionist, assign patients to rooms on board, alert nursing staff to patient arrival, pull and prepare charts; order and monitor utilization of selected supplies: office, nutritional supplements, forms, and retrieval chart back; assist with stocking supplies that are needed in the unit as well as assist in keeping the nursing stations clean and organized.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT or paramedic certification or currently enrolled in nursing school.
