Job summary

Piedmont Walton is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support our 24-bed Med-Surg unit. This role provides hands-on care across a wide range of adult patients, with opportunities to perform IV starts, wound care, NGT management, and post-op care under licensed staff supervision.

Ideal candidates may have no experience or up to a year of patient care experience. BCLS is required on hire, CNA or PCT certificate preferred, and float opportunities across the hospital are possible for growth.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: No experience required; 1 year of patient care experience preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: BCLS required; CNA preferred; Certification from a Patient Care Technician program preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Tech, under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.

Overview

Join Our Dynamic Med-Surg Team at Piedmont Walton. Our 24-bed Medical-Surgical unit offers a fast-paced, hands‑on environment caring for a wide range of adult patients, including orthopedic, general and bariatric surgeries, cardiac/telemetry monitoring, and complex medical conditions. RN-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:56 and PCTs from 1:69, allowing for meaningful, team‑based patient care.

Team members gain valuable clinical experience with frequent opportunities to perform IV starts, assist with bedside procedures, provide wound care, manage NGTs and chest tubes, administer blood transfusions, and care for post‑op, central line, and colostomy patients. Nurses and PCTs may also float to assist with needs across the hospital, making this a great opportunity for well‑rounded clinical growth and collaboration.
