Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support direct patient care in a high-acuity Medicine Overflow unit. You will assist with activities of daily living, mobility, and comfort under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, while ensuring safety and infection control standards.

Ideal candidates hold a Florida CNA license, are enrolled in an ASN or BSN program, and have completed Fundamentals of Nursing. On-site work at the Tampa General Campus is required.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Certified Nursing Assistant license from FL DOH.
• Active enrollment in an ASN or BSN program and completion of Fundamentals of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care assistance including activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, safety and comfort.
• Assist licensed nursing staff with delegated patient care activities per clinical protocols; observe patient condition and report changes.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and environmental cleanliness standards.
• Respond to emergencies and follow escalation procedures.
• Prioritize tasks and manage resources in a high-acuity clinical environment.

Description

Patient Care Technicians provide direct and indirect patient care services under the supervision of licensed
nursing staff. The role supports the delivery of safe, timely, and patient-centered care by assisting with basic
clinical and supportive care needs in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment. The Patient Care Technician
practice in alignment with organizational values, clinical standards, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

• Provide direct patient care assistance, including support with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, safety, and comfort measures.
• Assist licensed nursing staff with delegated patient care activities according to established clinical protocols. Observe patient condition and promptly report changes or concerns to licensed nursing staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to patient care activities.
• Support patient safety, infection prevention, and environmental cleanliness standards.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and follow escalation procedures.
• Prioritize assigned tasks and utilize resources effectively in a high-acuity clinical environment.

Qualifications
