Job summary

MUSC Health in Orangeburg, SC is seeking a Patient Care Technician II to support RN-led care in a cardiology setting. The role provides multi-skilled assistance to enhance a decentralized, patient-centered approach and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Education: high school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of patient care experience in a health care facility.
  • CNA certification.
  • EMT or Paramedic certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in a healthcare program with completion of Nursing Assistant/Medical Assistant/Nursing Fundamentals course preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 2 weeks of hire; maintain current.

The Patient Care Technician II reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the PCT II performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the RN with patient data collection.
  • Assist with activities of daily living.
  • Independently perform a variety of basic clinical procedures.
  • Independently perform advanced clinical procedures (identified by unit).
  • Perform routine clerical duties.
  • Assist with nutritional needs.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Respond to patient and visitor requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

Experience
  • One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • EMT or Paramedic certification
  • Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in a healthcare related program with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course at an accredited institution or equivalent training preferred

Credentials: Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
