Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Missouri is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care on a high risk cardiology unit. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and report changes to the nursing team in a safe, patient-centered environment.

Hours are 36 per week with nights 7:00 PM–3:30 AM and every third weekend. Perks include shift differentials and comprehensive benefits after orientation. CNA certification and U.S. work eligibility required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• No Experience.
• Certified Nurse Assistant certification required.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, providing ADL assistance and performing vital signs.
• Supports patient and family education; collects and reports changes in patient condition to the nurse.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet patient needs.
• Participates in patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance activities.
• Acts as 1:1 safety sitter as necessary.

Focus will be on high risk cardiology units where you will find many exciting challenges and opportunities for learning. Many of the patients that you will care for require advanced medication infusions and post cardiac procedure care. Our team consists of registered nurses, patient/student nurse technicians, and housestaff of residents, interns and other medical professionals.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care to support the licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients to ensure a safe environment for patients by reducing risk of harm. Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the nursing team which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient's condition.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
