Job summary

Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, an acute care facility, seeks a patient care assistant to support licensed nurses and meet the physical and psychosocial needs of patients.

Under supervision, you will perform direct care with limited invasive procedures and complete assigned tasks. Required qualifications include reading/numerical skills, prior care giving preferred, and BLS (RQI) with Handle with Care training within 6 months.

Qualifications

• Reading and numerical competency. Must possess competency in use of technology and computers.
• Previous care giving experience preferred. Must have the ability to demonstrate basic care giving skills and essential job functions.
• BLS Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines and all required Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Healthcare Provider courses will be provided during new hire orientation or upon transfer, and must be completed prior to working in a clinical setting. Must successfully complete "Handle with Care" within 6 months of hire/transfer, and annually thereafter.
• Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department and reports patient welfare, safety and security to RN.

Responsibilities

• Works under the direction of a licensed nurse to assist in meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of patients in a professional and timely manner. Performs various tasks as competency documentation designates.
• Position provides direct care with limited invasives procedures. Other duties as assigned.
