Job summary

Intermountain Healthcare in Denver is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support the Surgical Care Unit with vital signs, ambulation, and daily living activities.

This full-time role provides training on drains and procedures, shift differentials for evenings/nights, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • May perform telemetry duties as required and monitor patient condition.
  • Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required.
  • May assume Health Unit Coordinator duties, including phones and order transcription.

Job Description:The Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator.*FULL-TIME NIGHT SHIFT AND FULL-TIME DAY SHIFT NEEDED*Unit Description:The Surgical Care Unit is a 34 bed unit that serves a variety of surgical patients including ENT, abdominal, thoracic, urology, plastic, bariatric, and general surgery. PCT’s assist with vitals, ambulation, ADL’s, glucometers, and I/O’s. The numerous procedures seen on our unit allow PCT’s to develop skills with many types of drains, procedures, and patients. Our unit is education focused, filled with hardworking caregivers, and provides many opportunities for learning and growth. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
