Job summary

Intermountain Health seeks a Patient Care Technician to support the Cardiac Unit at St. Marys Hospital in Grand Junction, CO. The role includes basic patient care, telemetry support, and coordination with RNs to ensure quality care across shifts.

The position requires Colorado CNA and BLS, strong computer literacy, and excellent communication. Part-time, 24 hours weekly, with two 12-hour shifts and weekend/holiday availability.

Qualifications

  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of Colorado.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Prior CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.
  • Current enrollment in nursing school program.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and deliver basic patient care including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs.
  • Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner.
  • Reports changes in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance as needed.
  • May perform telemetry duties as required based on the unit, and function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patients and collaborating with the team.
  • Transport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required.
  • Collaborate with the RN and interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
  • May assume Health Unit Coordinator duties: answer phones, transcribe orders, manage unit records, stock supplies.
  • Implements plan of care as delegated and performs duties within Scope of Practice.
  • Fosters a safe environment by complying with safety policy and emergency action.

Job Description:The Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator.Essential FunctionsPrioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs, while providing excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests.Reports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
