Job summary

Osborne County Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Tech for acute care in Osborne, KS. This role provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses, assisting with daily activities, feeding, bathing, and positioning while maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous clinical experience is preferred.
  • Must be 16 years of age.
  • A current certification must be maintained in the state of Kansas.
  • CPR certification is required.

# Patient Care Tech - AcuteOsborne, KS 67473## OverviewPosition TypeFull Time## Description**SUMMARY:**Provides direct and indirect patient care activities under direct supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse and the Registered Nurse. Assists patients with activities of daily living, providing for personal care, comfort, and assistance when necessary. Works cooperatively with other employees.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** Includes the following, but is not limited to any other duties or tasks that may be assigned:* bedside nursing care* care of the patient’s unit* food service* handling equipment and supplies* answer the patient’s call light* report all useful information to nurse* assist in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients* patient heights and weights* feeding patients* bathing patients* measuring and recording of intake and output* collect specimens* make patient beds* lift and transfer patients* observe and record information about patient’s objectively* obtaining and recording vital signs* proper techniques of good medical asepsis* maintain a safe environment* shave patients* assist care with obstetrical patients* safe and correct use of bedrails* assist care of the newborn* offer bedpans and urinals* apply binders or ace wraps* straighten the utility rooms* apply warm or cold applications* deliver fresh drinking water* assist with pre- and post-op cares* assist with patient positioning* care for equipment* give enemas* care for patient’s skin* back rubs* care for the diabetic patient* care for the cardiac patient* care of a patient with a colostomy* care for the patient in isolation* care for the dying patient* care for the patient after death* oral care* prepare soiled linen for laundry to take to the laundry area* empty trash cans as needed## Qualifications**QUALIFICATIONS:**To perform this job successful, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be 16 years of age.**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:** A current certification must be maintained in the state of Kansas. Must be CPR certified.**LANGUAGE SKILLS:**Provide accurate, concise and effective oral and written communication. Promote positive environment conductive to teamwork, innovation and positive morale. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, and the general public.**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractures, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.**REASONING ABILITY:** Ability to solve practical problems that deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position may require 12 hour shifts for coverage and overtime may be required for staffing need requirements. The employee is regularly required to lift or move up to 25 pounds, frequently required to lift or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally required to lift or move up to 100 pounds. Lifting may include supplies and equipment with occasional lifting/positioning/transferring of patients. Must be able to carry out procedures outlined. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.**WORK ENVIRONMENT:**The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
