Job summary

UAB Medical West in McCalla, AL is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support nurses in daily patient care activities, monitor vital signs, assist with hygiene, and help maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Under supervision of the RN/LPN, the PCT will document care in the EMR, respond to patient needs, and provide compassionate support to patients and their families, ensuring quality care and patient comfort throughout shifts.

Job description

As a Patient Care Tech at UAB Medical West, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients. Under the supervision of the RN or LPN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various duties to support the treatment and care of patients according to established methods and procedures. The PCT takes and records vital signs, assists with personal hygiene, changes bed linens, and completes other tasks as assigned to promote the basic comfort and personal care of the patient. Your attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure will be essential in ensuring that our patients receive the best possible care.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to lift and move patients as needed
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Additional training or certification in patient care
• Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) program
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
