Job summary

St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide routine, non-licensed bedside care as part of the Nursing Team. Under licensed staff direction, you will assist with vitals, patient prepping, transport, and documentation in a hospital setting in Savannah, GA.

Preferred High School Diploma and 1-2 years PCT experience. BLS certification is required, PCT certificate preferred. Learn more about the benefits available to SJ/C co-workers.

• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required.
• PCT Certificate - Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordination and implementation of individualized patient care with qualified unlicensed assistive personnel.
• Escort patients from reception and assist with dressing and undressing; obtain vitals; maintain patient comfort and privacy.
• Assist with room setup; move/transport patients; assist with patient prepping.
• Under RN direction transport patients to other care areas.
• Document patient assessments according to hospital guidelines.

Core Job Functions

• Assists in the coordination and implementation of individualized care for patients and families. Direct aspects of patient care to qualified unlicensed assistive personnel commensurate with abilities and level of preparation and consistent with legal and regulatory framework.
• Patients are escorted from reception area and assistance provided with dressing and undressing. Complete set of vitals obtained and comfort and safety is provided. Warm blankets offered and patient privacy is maintained.
• Assists in room set up. Helps move/transport patients. Assists with patient prepping.
• Under the direction of the RN transports patients to other patient care areas
• Patients are identified per guidelines and patient care interventions are provided under the direction of the RN/LPN. Accurately obtains and documents patient assessments according to hospital/ department guidelines.
