Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City, NC is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the IMC/SDU 3-South. This full-time, day-shift role supports nursing care under supervision and helps with admissions, discharges, and patient safety.

The ideal candidate holds a HS diploma or equivalent with CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certification and preferred health-care experience. AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire is required.

Overview

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the IMC/SDU 3-South.

Full time, day shift, 7a-7p

Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nursing.

Education

• HS - High School Grad or Equivalent
• One of the following programs is acceptable for education: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Certifications/Licensure

• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Education

• One year of health care experience preferred.

We care for patients with complex medical needs requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions, while fostering strong interdisciplinary collaboration and professional growth. Primary diagnosis includes CHF, COPD, MI, CKD, AKD, and Sepsis. We do several drips on our unit which include dobutamine, milrinone, dopamine, Lasix, heparin and nitroglycerin.

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center , located in Elizabeth City, NC, serves northeastern North Carolina with a caring team of approximately 650 employees and 150 medical providers.
