Job summary

THOM Thomas Hospitals is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Thomas Medical Office Pavilion in Charleston, WV. This night shift role provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, focusing on comfort, safety, and communication with licensed medical staff.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with admissions and discharges, maintaining infection control, and supporting department operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire date required.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Observe and report patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse.
• Assist the RN with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Record vital signs and assist with personal hygiene and patient comfort measures.
• Record oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure, etc.).
• Assist in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
• Report equipment needs and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Prepare patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures.
• Communicate with RN about nutrition issues and diet changes.
• Assist department with administrative tasks and answer patient call bells.
