Job summary

UChicago Medicine Hyde Park seeks a Nursing Support Assistant (CNA) to support patient care under RN supervision. You will perform basic care tasks, monitor patients, and document activities to ensure accuracy and safety in a busy hospital unit.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, taking vital signs, and coordinating with the healthcare team to prepare patients for procedures and transfers. CPR/BLS certification is required, and high school diploma is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Ability to read and write, communicate effectively, and follow instructions.
• Ability to work with management and staff in a clinical setting.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care activities including vital signs and basic tests.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living using proper infection control techniques.
• Assists patients with hygiene, ambulation and nourishment.
• Performs procedures such as collecting specimens and weighing patients.
• Assists with discharge and transfer preparation of patients.
• Maintains patient environment and rooms for admission/transfer.
• Documents activities accurately in records/logs.
• Initiates CPR and calls for assistance as needed.
• Performs receptionist duties for the assigned area.
