Job summary

Bayhealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Kent Campus in Delaware. The role provides professional nursing care in a high-demand acute care setting, with a night shift and a 72-hour schedule. The nurse will develop patient-centered plans, administer medications, and ensure accurate documentation.

Ideal candidates hold an RN license with BLS and ACLS/PALS as required. Compensation is competitive with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for specialty certification over time.

Qualifications

• Education: ADN or Nursing Diploma; RN license required.
• BLS and ACLS/PALS as directed by manager.
• Experience in relevant specialty preferred.
• Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individual needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information to make treatment decisions.
• Consult with physicians to determine best treatment decisions.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrate standards of excellence through compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.

General Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing Or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support; *ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
