Job summary

Bayhealth is seeking a Registered Nurse at Sussex Campus Hospital for full-time day/evening shifts in the Sussex Campus. The role provides direct, professional nursing care in the acute care setting, with a focus on patient-centered plans, medication administration, and ongoing documentation and treatment decisions.

Salary ranges from $37.98 to $58.87 per hour. Education must be an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma, with RN licensure and BLS; ACLS/PALS may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
• Credentials: Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; ACLS/PALS may be required per manager’s direction.
• Experience: Required; Preferred: Experience in relevant specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

General Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.
