Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center in Dover, DE is seeking a Patient Care RN for Day Surgery. The role involves direct nursing care in the acute setting, with a focus on patient-centered planning, education, and safe medication administration.

The position requires an Associate Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma, RN licensure, and BLS. Cross-training with PACU, some call and weekend shifts are possible. Salary is hourly with competitive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree; Nursing; Or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support.
• Experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Location: Kent Campus Hospital

Status: Full Time 72 Hours per pay period

Shift: Day/ Evening; 4 shifts/week (9-hour) 5:30am - 8:00pm

Additional shift considerations:Cross-training with PACU; some call; some weekends; some nights (may work up to 10:00pm)

SALARY RANGE:37.98 + BOE, HOURLY plus call incentive

General Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.
