Job summary

ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform delegated patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse and to participate in the Observer role for monitoring assigned patients.

You will engage in quality improvement activities, attend staff development programs, maintain licensure, and follow hospital policies. This is a full-time day shift with weekends and requires an NAI listing and HeartSaver certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred or higher.
• NAI listing with NC Department of Health and Human Services is required.
• Current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification is required.
• De-escalation training (Non-violent crisis intervention or equivalent) required or to be completed within 90 days of employment; not required for Ambulatory positions.

Responsibilities

• Participates in Quality Improvement (QI) activities, problem solving, data collection, and safety/compliance efforts.
• Attends staff development programs and assists in orientation of new staff and students under RN supervision.
• Follows hospital policies and maintains licensure/certification as an NAI.
• Demonstrates teamwork and effective communication within the care team; supports cost-effective use of equipment and supplies.
• Assists in providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse and completes delegated tasks as allowed by NC DHHS.
• Monitors patients for escalating behaviors, communicates with the care team, and maintains documentation in the medical record.
