Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital seeks a Patient Care Nurse Assistant for the Med/Surg and Telemetry unit. You will support RNs with direct patient care on a high-acuity floor, assist with ADLs, monitor vitals, and help with transfers on a 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM schedule.

Desirable candidates have a High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification; Nursing students should have BLS upon hire, and STNA is preferred. This role emphasizes teamwork and high-quality patient care.

Euclid Hospital’s 9th floor Med/Surg andTelemetryUnit is designated for patients who have recently suffered from a stroke and provides the highest level of comprehensive stroke care that ensures patients are being treated quickly, leading to improved outcomes and reduced recovery times. This unit also provides telemetry monitoring.As a Primary Stroke Center, certified by The Joint Commission, Euclid Hospital has met strict national stroke care standards and is held to the highest quality and patient safety standards.

As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you will assist and provide direct patient care while supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN). This position involves heavy patient contact, including ADLs, ambulation assistance and performing Accu-Cheks. A PCNA in this role should be familiar with identifying basic changes in patient status and have the ability to be flexible and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Here, you will have the chance to work alongside our nurses and physicians who are eager to teach, welcome new caregivers to the team and help them climb the professional ladder.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 7:30PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.

• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period

• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire

• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
