Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Stark County, OH is hiring a Patient Care Nurse Assistant to support a fast-paced Medical/Surgical unit. You will provide bedside care under RN supervision, assist with rounds, and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross; if not held, must obtain during new hire period.
• Nursing students: BLS Certification upon hire through the AHA or American Red Cross.
• Military experience as HM, 68W, or 4N0X1 will be considered.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, activities of daily living, transfers, and monitoring devices.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Participate in hourly rounding and maintain a welcoming, healing environment.
• Work 7:00am–7:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays.

Education

BLS Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Nursing students: BLS Certification upon hire

Military experience as Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Mercy Hospital’s 28-bed Medical/Surgical Unit, also known as the Clinical Decision Unit, is a specialized unit that focuses on providing care for both telemetry and observation patients. Half of the rooms on this unit are private. This unit is typically fast-paced and allows our caregivers to assess, diagnose and treat medical concerns with non-invasive methods. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. You will take part in hourly rounding, assessing fall risks, documenting input and output and more. This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00am-7:30pm, including rotating weekends and holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification upon hire through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.25

Maximum hourly: $24.95
