Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) for a 25-bed Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit (J81). You will provide compassionate patient care under the supervision of an RN, including vital signs, transfers, and daily living activities.

This fast-paced unit offers growth and interdisciplinary collaboration. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and BLS certification; nursing students and military healthcare experience are considered.

Qualifications

• Military experience relevant to healthcare will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including vital signs, transfers, and activities of daily living.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.

J81 is a 25-bed Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit where skilled nurses provide high-acuity, specialized care to a diverse population of cardiac patients. From acute myocardial infarction and post-cardiac interventions to chronic heart-failure and complex dysrhythmia management, our team plays a critical role in guiding patients through some of their most vulnerable moments. The Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) provides compassionate, hands-on patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), supporting a safe and healing environment through skills validated by training and competency assessments. J81 is a busy 25-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit specializing in the care of Cardiology Stepdown and Medical/Surgical patients. This unit offers a collaborative, fast-paced setting dedicated to exceptional patient-centered care.

A caregiver in this position works days 7:00am-7:30pm. Weekend and holiday rotation required.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• A high school diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire period
• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.25

Maximum hourly: $24.95
