Job summary

Montefiore is hiring a Nursing Attendant to support a patient-centered team in a hospital unit. The role includes assisting with daily living activities and ensuring a clean, safe environment for patients across age groups.

Responsibilities include hygiene, mobility support, measurement of vital signs, and effective communication with the healthcare team. The patient care team emphasizes infection control, confidentiality, and timely task completion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of State Certified Program is required.
• 1-3 years’ clinical experience as a nursing student/foreign graduate nurse is required.
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living (eating, bathing, ambulating) for neonatal to geriatric patients.
• Meets hygiene and grooming needs (bathing, shaving, hair/oral care).
• Assists with mobility (range of motion, ambulation, transfers, splints).
• Maintains skin integrity using turning, positioning, and pressure-relief devices.
• Provides patient comfort (bed making, positioning, sleep support) and manages elimination needs.
• Assists with safety and infection control; responds to call bells and maintains a safe environment.
• Transports patients to procedures, visits, and transports medical records as directed.
• Performs equipment checks and restocks supplies within the unit.
