Job summary

Memorial Healthcare System in Pembroke Pines, FL, is seeking a Patient Care Technician to work under the supervision of an RN, performing basic patient care and related clinical support activities.

Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, blood glucose measurements, and assisting with activities of daily living; duties also cover stocking rooms, patient transport, and reporting changes to nursing staff.

Qualifications

• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Three (3) months of patient care experience or completion of a formal training program required.
• EKG and phlebotomy competencies are required within six (6) months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs and assess patient status.
• Perform EKG testing and phlebotomy.
• Take blood glucose measurements and document intake/output.
• Assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Transport patients as needed and maintain clean, stocked rooms.
• Report abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary:

Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.

Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to: monitoring vital signs, EKG testing, phlebotomy, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.Assists with keeping patient rooms/areas stocked, clean and orderly.Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, and eating.Assist with transporting patients, as needed.Monitors patient status and response; Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.Additional duties as assigned.
