Job summary

Mercy is seeking a dedicated Nurse Assistant/Patient Care Associate to provide individualized patient care under the direction of the RN/LPN. The role supports a team-based approach to achieve patient wellness and includes advancement opportunities through a career ladder to PCT and beyond.

Responsibilities include vital signs, daily patient care tasks, and clerical duties. Training through an accredited Mercy PCA program or 175-hour facility program will be provided with required certifications

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program; current Mercy co-worker.
  • Experience: None required
  • Minimum Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds, prolonged standing/walking, bending/kneeling/twisting/squatting

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs and document in EMR
  • Assist with meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, mobility, transport
  • Clerical support duties as needed
  • Perform PCA duties and progress to PCT duties including phlebotomy, enteral feeding, wound care, IV/ Foley removal, trach care/suctioning
