Job summary

Mercy is hiring Patient Care Associates to support patient care across multiple inpatient units, including Cardiac, General Surgery, Med/Tele, Neuro, Observation, Oncology, and Orthopedics. Openings are reviewed on an ongoing basis as unit needs arise.

We offer day and night shifts with full-time and part-time options and a clear career ladder to Patient Care Technician (PCT) and beyond. Training provided, including a 175-hour Mercy program and BLS within 1 month of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA preferred but not required.
• Students in healthcare career programs and Mercy co-workers encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document vital signs.
• Assist patients with daily care needs including meals, bathing, toileting, mobility, and transport.
• Provide clerical and unit support as needed.
• (PCT duties include phlebotomy, wound care, IV and catheter removal, tracheostomy care)

What You’ll Do

Patient Care Associate (PCA):

• Obtain and document vital signs
• Assist patients with daily care needs including meals, bathing, toileting, mobility, and transport
• Provide clerical and unit support as needed

Patient Care Technician (PCT)

(Includes PCA duties, plus additional skills)

• Phlebotomy and blood cultures
• Enteral feeding and wound care
• IV and Foley catheter removal
• Tracheostomy care and suctioning

Training Provided

• No experience required — we’ll train you
• Complete a 175‑hour Mercy training program (meets state requirements)
• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Prolonged standing and walking
• Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and squatting
