Job summary

Heritage Valley Beaver in Beaver, PA is seeking a Full-Time Patient Care Associate to provide direct patient care under the supervision of the Professional Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, vital signs, and patient safety in a Level 3 Telemetry department.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent bedside manner, and completion of required clearances within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Excellent bedside manner and customer service & computer skills.
• Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in HR policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs.
• Assist with daily living activities (dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting).
• Take and document vital signs.
• Assist with ambulation, turning, and patient safety.
• Assist with catheter care when indicated and obtain 12-lead EKG.
• Set up respiratory equipment and monitor glucometer readings.
• Transcribe orders when indicated.

SIGN ON/ RETENTION BONUS - Totaling $1,500 for Full-Time Patient Care Associates

*Bonus Eligible* Department: Level 3 Telemetry
Work Hours: One 12 hr and One 8 hr shift per week, rotate days and nights, weekends and holidays required.

Basic Function: Provides direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Professional Nurse. Works closely with patients to provide physical assistance with daily living tasks, such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, vital signs, catheter care, answering call lights, assisting with ambulation, turning, and ensuring patient safety. Technical skills may include obtaining 12 lead EKG, setting up respiratory equipment, glucometer monitoring, bladder catheterization and transcribing orders, when indicated.

Qualifications:

Required: High school graduate or equivalent. Excellent bedside manner and customer service & computer skills. Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.

Preferred:

Successful completion of a nursing assistant program (with proof of completion). Nursing student after successful completion of their first quarter/semester of nursing school. Previous nursing assistant experience, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). BCLS certification.
