Job summary

Responsibilities

• Performs non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures as directed by nursing staff.
• May perform special procedures (e.g., blood draws, EKGs) as required.
• Conducts regular patient rounds and meets with family members when required.
• Collects test specimens and performs laboratory analysis as directed.
• Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them.
• Provides help with daily activities and hygiene: bathing, dressing, mobility, toileting, and more.

Assists nurses with direct and indirect patient care activities. Prepares patients rooms for occupancy after discharge. Additional responsibilities includes blood draws and EKGs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Observes patient's mental, emotional and physical conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.
• Performs non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions as directed by nursing staff.
• May perform special procedures as required and directed (i.e., blood draws/EKGs).
• Conducts regular patient rounds and meets with patient’s family members when required.
• Collects test specimens and performs laboratory analysis as directed by nursing staff.
• Answers patient calls and determines how best to help them.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification Program or equivalent
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross Certification

Preferred:

• Minimum of six (6) months recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting preferred.
• Completion of phlebotomy course or equivalent experience preferred.
