Hebrew SeniorLife is seeking a Nursing Assistant in Boston, MA. You will provide compassionate daily living support, assist with personal care, and maintain a safe, clean environment in a home-like setting.

The role requires MA CNA certification in good standing, fluent English, and ability to work independently and with a team. You will document care in the EMR, participate in quality improvement, and collaborate with the nursing team on care plans.

Qualifications

  • Must hold MA CNA certification in good standing on hire and ongoing.
  • Fluent English skills required, verbal and written.
  • Must complete mandatory Hebrew SeniorLife/Hebrew Rehabilitation Center education.
  • Demonstrates core care competencies and passes CNA skills test (70%+).

Responsibilities

  • Recognize and respond to residents' and families' needs.
  • Communicate changes in residents' condition to the nursing team.
  • Adhere to Safe Patient Handling practices, maintaining no manual lift environment.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement programs.
  • Assist with personal care per care plans.
  • Document care in the resident/patient's EMR.
  • Report accidents, incidents, abuse, and concerns promptly.
  • Observe skin integrity and report changes.
  • Attend daily report meetings and care planning sessions.
  • Obtain vital signs and basic procedures as directed.
  • Perform ECGs and bladder scans as trained.
  • Follow infection control practices consistently.
  • Attend ongoing training and educational classes.
  • Maintain confidentiality per HIPPA regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with peers, residents, families.
  • Support life enrichment activities and resident engagement.
  • Maintain room and common areas cleanliness.
  • Prepare/serve/clean up meals and snacks.
  • Participate in committee meetings and other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The primary role of the Nursing Assistant is to protect, sustain, and nurture the residents/patients that live at the Center. They provide assistance with activities of daily living, care of the resident/patient’s environment, and meet other needs as required. The goal of the work of the nursing assistant is to provide assistance that promotes a high quality of life for the residents/patients. The nursing assistant works as a member of a team that seeks to achieve a home like setting while maintaining excellence in all areas of care. In addition, the nursing assistant will demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize resident/patient’s dignity and choice in all aspects of daily life. They are an active participant in the activities, work, and social environment of the unit/households, and strive to make every resident/patient encounter into a positive and meaningful experience and opportunity, while ensuring the provision of safe and efficient quality care.

Position Responsibilities
  • 1. Recognize and respond to the needs of the residents/patients and families
  • 2. Recognize and communicate changes in the resident/patient’s condition to the appropriate nursing team member
  • 3. *Adhere to Safe Patient Handling practices, i.e. maintain a no manual lift environment
  • 4. Participate in Quality Improvement programs
  • 5. *Assist residents/patients with all aspects of personal care as indicated in the care plans
  • 6. *Document pertinent information regarding care delivered in the designated areas of the resident/patient’s electronic medical record.
  • 7. Report accidents and incidents as they occur
  • 8. Report any observed or suspected resident/patient abuse immediately
  • 9. Observe and report skin integrity
  • 10. Participate in daily report team and care planning meetings as needed
  • 11. *Be proficient in obtaining vital signs and other procedures such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, blood glucose levels, pulse oximetry and urine and stool specimens as directed
  • 12. Perform electrocardiograms and bladder scans
  • 13. Follow infection control practices
  • 14. Attend and participate in ongoing training and educational classes
  • 15. *Maintain confidentiality and privacy of the resident/patient according to HIPPA regulations
  • 16. *Communicate effectively with peers, other team members, residents/patients and families
  • 17. Facilitate life enrichment activities that encourage resident/patient engagement
  • 18. Maintain cleanliness of the resident/patient’s room and common program areas
  • 19. Prepare, serve, and clean up after meals and snacks
  • 20. Participate in committee meetings
  • 21. Other duties as assigned

RSU Nursing Assistants: MA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required in good standing upon hire and on-going.
