Job summary

Riverside Health System is seeking a capable health care assistant to join our Newport News practice. The role involves patient data entry into the EMR, rooming patients, and assisting with care under supervision. You will support nursing and provider teams in delivering timely, safe patient care.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, and a healthcare-related degree is preferred. CPR/BLS certification is required or obtainment is offered upon hire. Weekend shifts may be required.

Responsibilities

• Enter patient data into EMR and verify accuracy.

• Ensure availability of equipment and supplies; maintain a clean, safe work area.

Will perform specified functions and tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, point of care testing, and extremity splinting. This may include the following procedures with an appropriate validated competency: vital signs, ice application, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection (nasal and throat swabs), POCT testing and splinting.Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
