Job summary

USA Health is seeking aDedicated patient care assistant to join our Mobile facilities. The role involves assisting with activities of daily living, taking vital signs, and documenting patient information under RN/LPN supervision.

You will maintain clean patient areas, support admissions and transfers, and ensure accurate, timely charting while following strict infection control guidelines at our hospital campuses along the Gulf Coast.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; education may be substituted.
• BCLS certification required at hire.
• Experience with basic medical documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignments from RN/LPN and assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Report any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN.
• Maintain clean and neatly stocked patient areas and rooms; clean equipment between patients.
• Take and record vital signs and weights; monitor urine collection when needed.
• Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer; respond to patient calls promptly.
• Access and accurately maintain electronic and paper medical records.
• Adhere to infection control and safety standards; attend required training.

Responsibilities

• Receives verbal/written assignments from RN/LPN
• Assists patients with activities of Daily Living
• Reports any changes in patient condition to RN/LPN
• Maintains clean and neat stocked areas and patient rooms
• Cleans equipment between each patient use
• Operates unit equipment as required
• Runs unit errands as needed
• Assists with and accompanies patients on admission, discharge, and transfer
• Answers patient call lights promptly
• Keeps hallway clear of equipment
• Distributes water and ice
• Maintains 24-hour urine collections
• Performs catheter checks and blood glucose monitoring
• Position requires constant standing and walking, along with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping/crouching, and rarely sitting.
• Takes and records vital signs and weight
• Records accurate intake and output (to include NG, chest tube, ostomy bags, foley, etc.)
• Signs/initials documentation
• Documents patient turns and repositioning
• Reports any skin condition to RN
• Assists with completion of daily flow sheet
• Responds to overhead pages
• Participates in orientation of new employees as assigned
• Accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records
• Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
• Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
• Regular and prompt attendance
• Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
• Related duties as assigned

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. Required
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
