Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to work alongside registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in Minnesota. You will participate in a structured training program to develop skills for safe, compassionate patient care and to support daily living activities for hospitalized patients.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, vital signs documentation, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

Currently offering a $2,500 sign-on bonus for candidates hired for full-time positions (0.75–1.0 FTE), regardless of shift or straight-night position (0.5–1.0 FTE). Eligibility will be discussed during the hiring process.

As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will work alongside registered nurses and other healthcare professionals to support the care of hospitalized patients. Through a structured training program, you will develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, compassionate patient care. As a Patient Care Assistant you will:

Patient Care Assistants (PCA) are hired to work at either Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus or Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus.

Training and Development

• Comprehensive full-time, paid training, including classroom and on-the-job learning
• No prior healthcare experience required
• Ongoing support and guidance from experienced healthcare professionals

The skills and responsibilities of a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) align closely with those of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Patient Care Technician (PCT), making this an excellent opportunity for individuals with CNA or patient care experience.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age prior to start date. Must be able to read, write, communicate, and understand English.Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

Additional Qualifications: Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

License or Certification:

If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program. Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
