Job summary

Surgery Partners, Inc is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support the surgical team in pre-procedure and post-procedure care. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will assist with patient intake for surgery, prepare bays, stock supplies, and help transport patients to discharge.

This busy ambulatory surgery environment requires excellent communication and teamwork, flexibility to the OR schedule, and a willingness to train for license requirements such as Basic Life Support or CNA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of patient care experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• CNA license preferred; willing to train.

Responsibilities

• Assist in pre- and post-operative areas and operating room.
• Support patient intake for surgery and help prepare patient bays.
• Stock patient bays and transport patients to discharge.

Position Summary

The Patient Care Assistant under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse, assists in the treatment and care of patients in the pre procedure and the post procedure phase of their treatment. Assist with patient intake for surgery, clean and prepare patient bays, stock patient bays, transport patients to vehicles for discharge, order supplies, and help with flow of daily surgical schedule. Need a tech to assist in Pre and Post operative areas as well as the operating room. Assisting a very busy surgery center with day to day needs, turnovers, and getting patients ready and discharged for surgery. Must have great communication skills, interpersonal skills, and willing to be flexible to the demands of the operating room.

Education and Experience

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• One year patient care experience preferably in a hospital setting.

Required Licensure and Certification

• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
• Prefer CNA license also willing to train

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Functions within the position description and within the scope of employee/patient relationship.
• Participates in opportunities of continuing education.
• Demonstrates the ability to utilize recognized channels of communication.
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, co-workers, and other health team members.
